Manage your Shape during Winter

These are some of the stuff that i keep in my Fridge

Winter is about to end in a Month time and here comes Spring, but still
Spring here is unpredictable with alternating warm, rain, windy and cold days.
I really hate the weather here in Australia, we enjoy hot weather for only
three short Months. Unlike in the Philippines we enjoy Summer almost the
Whole Year Round! Love Summer! I can't wait until Summer comes(December
till February, 5 more months to go,sigh).

Here are some helpful Tips that i've gathered:

Instead of giving up your exercise regime and healthy eating plan this winter, aim to maintain it during the cooler months — this will make managing your weight a whole lot easier.

Follow this five-step plan

1. Maintain a healthy, balanced diet

Base your daily diet on the five food groups:

  • Bread, cereals, rice, pasta, noodles

  • Vegetables, legumes and fruit

  • Low fat milk, yoghurt and cheese

  • Meat, fish poultry, eggs and nuts.

  • 2. Include fibre and protein

Eating a diet high in fibre or protein can help you to feel fuller for longer. Fibre can be found in wholegrains, breads, cereals, nuts, seeds, fruit and vegetables while protein can be found in lean meat, chicken, fish, low-fat dairy products, nuts, seeds and legumes.

    3. Look out for comfort eating

Identify if you are enjoying lots of extra treats throughout your day. Are you always snacking on sweet biscuits or cake at morning tea? Or do you sit on the couch at night eating chocolate? Both these eating habits make it harder for you to manage your weight, so limit the frequency and amount of "treat" food you eat.

    4. Maintain hydration

Some times we can confuse hunger with thirst and we reach for a sweet treat instead of a glass of water — the afternoon sugar craving is a perfect example. When you feel like snacking on something sugary, have a couple of glasses of water and wait 15 minutes before reaching for the treat. You may not need it after all.

    5. Keep moving

Keep up the active lifestyle you had in summer. It is recommended to include at least 30 minutes of exercise on most, preferably all days of the week (this includes winter too). Get a training partner for winter so you can push each other to maintain your health and fitness.

Permanent Residency Approval

Wow! I can't explain how happy i am right now, after reading this letter i felt

like i was shaking, teary eyed, laughing(parang naloloka!). I really can't

explain the Feelings, what i'm sure is i'm very happy.

After the long wait, after all the stress and worries. Finally!

It has been Granted, The First thing that came to my mind was to Thank the

LORD, for He is the reason of every Blessings we're enjoying right now. Call my

Husband came after(he's at work), We've worked together to make this

possible, comfort each other when we're feeling like we wanted to give up

because of the hardships and trials while completing all the Documents.

Not to mention the Financial difficulties we've encountered just to make

this happen. Lastly informed my Nanay, my Tatay,

my Brothers and Sister in law.

Here's how the Letter goes....

31/07/2008

File Number:-----------
Client Id:-----------
Application Number:----------

Mr ----- ----- ------
--- MAJESTIC DRIVE
STANHOPE GARDENS NSW ----

Dear Mr ----- ----- ------

I refer to your application for the 856 Employer Nomination visa sub-class.

I am pleased to advise you that your application has been approved. The
following persons included in your application were granted a permanent
visa on 31 July 2008:

1.----- ----- ------, 11/09/19--
2.----- -------- ------, 27/07/19--
3.------ --- -----, 03/09/1990

The permanent visa that you have been granted includes a return travel
facility which allows you to travel in and out of Australia as a permanent
resident for a period of five years from the date it was granted. As your
passport is not held in this office your visa label has not been issued at
this time. The grant of the visa may be evidenced at any office of
Immigration upon presentation of this letter and your valid passport.

Resident Return Visa (RRV)

Once the initial permission to travel and return to Australia ceases, you
will need to apply for a Resident Return Visa (RRV) if you wish to travel
overseas and return to Australia as a permanent resident. An RRV is the
label that is placed in your passport which identifies you as a permanent
resident at immigration clearance on return to Australia. It is evidence
of your permission to enter Australia after absences overseas and to resume
residence. Eligibility for an RRV is generally based on the amount of time
you have spent in Australia as a permanent resident, although there are
some concessions for people who cannot meet the residential requirements.
If you depart Australia without an RRV, or it expires while you are
overseas and you are not eligible for a further RRV, you will lose your
right to return to Australia as a permanent resident.
Australian Citizenship

The eligibility requirements for Australian Citizenship changed on 1 July
2007. For further information you can read about current eligibility
requirements at:
http://www.citizenship.gov.au/applying/application-process/eligible.htm

Centrelink Payments

As you know, new migrants to Australia must wait two years before they can
receive most social security income support payments. "Income support" is
government welfare assistance that is enough to live on. The payments with
a waiting period include unemployment and sickness benefits, Austudy income
support payments for students and a number of other payments.

Special Benefit is the only form of government welfare assistance which
might be payable to people during the two year waiting period. However,
special benefit is only available to new migrants on a very restricted
basis - that is, if there has been a substantial change in circumstances
beyond the person's control. Inability to find employment or running out
of money are not sufficient reasons to qualify for Special Benefit.

The two year waiting period does not apply to Refugees and Humanitarian
entrants and their immediate family members (partners and dependent
children). Permanent visa holders who are immediate family members
(partners and dependent children) of Australian citizens, or of people who
have been permanent residents for at least two years, are exempt from the
waiting period for some payments.

Information on the waiting period is included in the form 'Settlement
information for migrants to Australia' (form 994I). For further
information you can also telephone Centrelink, the agency that makes social
security payments, on 13 2468 from anywhere in Australia for the cost of a
local call.

You can also call Centrelink's Multilingual Telephone Information Service
which can give you information in your own language about social security
payments. This service can be contacted from anywhere in Australia, for
the cost of a local call on 13 1202.

Medicare Health Services

Migrants generally have immediate access to Medicare health services. If
you would like further information on Medicare, including the nearest
centre to register for assistance, you can ring 13 2011 from anywhere in
Australia.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you well for your future in
Australia.

Yours sincerely

TERRY STACEY
Parramatta Business Centre

Qantas Plane Made an Emergency Landing in Manila

Grabbed from Yahoo!7 News..

Australian passengers have told of a terrifying mid-air emergency that left a gaping hole in the side of a Qantas plane, forcing an emergency landing in Manila.

The Qantas Boeing 747, en route from London to Melbourne , via Hong Kong , landed safely on Friday and a "gigantic" hole was discovered in the belly of the plane, near the wing.

Some of the 346 passengers on board told of debris flying through the depressurised cabin, and oxygen masks dropping from the ceiling. Some said the plane had plunged about 20,000 feet after a door "popped".

"There was a terrific boom and bits of wood and debris just flew forward into first (class) and the oxygen masks dropped down," Melbourne woman Dr June Kane told ABC Radio.

"I'm looking at the plane now and ... just forward of the wing, there's a gaping hole from the wing to the underbody," she said, adding that baggage was hanging out.

"It was absolutely terrifying, but I have to say everyone was very calm."

Qantas chief executive Geoff Dixon said the flight had "a hole in its fuselage" and was being inspected. None of the passengers nor the plane's 19 crew were hurt, he said.

The Australian Transportation Safety Bureau (ATSB) and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) had been notified of the incident, Dixon said.

CASA spokesman Peter Gibson told the ABC that initial reports indicated a problem with air pressure in the cabin.

Manila airport operations officer Ding Lima told local radio the plane lost cabin pressure shortly after takeoff from Hong Kong and the pilot radioed for an emergency landing.

"Upon disembarkation, there were some passengers who vomited. You can see in their faces that they were really scared," he said.

During the emergency part of the plane's flooring gave way, exposing some of the cargo in the hold, he said. Part of the ceiling also collapsed.

Another passenger Brendan McClements, the chief executive of the Victorian Major Events Company, described hearing a big bang as the plane flew out of Hong Kong .

"There was a sort of rapid expulsion of wind. It went out of the plane, the air got sucked out, the oxygen masks dropped down and we put them on," he told AAP from Manila.

"Where I was sitting wasn't ideal, by no means ideal.

"We landed about an hour or so ago, and there was a very large hole that wasn't there when we took off in Hong Kong ."

McClements praised Qantas staff for keeping passengers calm.

"The crew were terrific, they did a great job," he said.

"Everyone gave them a round of applause as we landed."

British man Phil Rescall said he and other passengers realised how lucky they were when they saw the size of the hole in the plane's underbelly just in front of the right wing.

"You see the hole and you realise we were very lucky," he told AFP.

"Some people were crying, some people were pretty shaken when they saw the hole."

Another English passenger, Robin McGeechan, 42, said that despite the bang there was little panic.

"We were told a door had popped. We only realised that there was a great big hole in the plane after we landed," McGeechan said.

McClements said he was glad he didn't see the hole in the plane until after they landed.

"Landing was a good thing," he said.

"The captain flagged that we were going to take a very long, slow landing, so we used the whole runway, the emergency crews were out there to meet us and then they towed us in.

"When we walked out we were able to see the plane from the outside and there was a very large hole.

"I was very happy I saw that when I was on the ground and not when I was in the air."

McClements said the passengers were calm when it happened.

"It was probably an hour out of Hong Kong , it all went bang and whoosh.

"And the oxygen masks dropped down and we tootled off to Manila as quickly as we could.

"It was back behind me, big, loud and noisy and very windy when the cabin presser depressed.

"Obviously when the initial bang happened there were a few looks cast across the aisles and backwards and forwards.

"But once people put their oxygen masks on, and crew did a terrific job of making sure people were calm around us, everyone was very even, everyone was very relaxed, that I saw."

McClements said the plane descended after the bang.

"Someone else used the word plunged, but it was a very even decent to a level, as I understand it, where the cabin pressure was equalised.

"It didn't worry me particularly, it never felt like it was out of control."

He said he thought it had taken another hour or two to reach Manila after that.

" Qantas handled it brilliantly and all in all, I will be on the next plane as soon as they can get one to take me home.

"I don't want to catch a cargo ship or anything like that."

Thank God they're all safe!
